ABOUT US

WOMAN IN CONSTRUCTION

REA-D Foundation proudly stands as an enterprise fully owned by Ms. Diamond Gorman, an African American woman originating from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Our distinction as a women-owned firm in an industry historically dominated by men serves as a source of immense pride. Our core mission revolves around empowering women, playing a pivotal role in facilitating their active participation within this sector.

At REA-D Foundation, we boast a range of notable certifications, including recognitions from the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), Women-Owned Small Business (WBE/WOSB), Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned (SWAM), as well as Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) across Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. These certifications unequivocally affirm our unwavering dedication to fostering diversity and inclusivity.

Throughout our journey, we've strategically expanded our footprint within the construction industry, advocating for the empowerment of women. It's a point of immense pride for us to showcase the industry's commitment to enhancing diversity and suppliers, both within prominent corporations and governmental entities.

FAMILY EMPOWERMENT

In January 2021, Diamond Gorman established REA-D Employment Agency after relocating from Pittsburgh, PA, to Hampton Roads, VA, in pursuit of enhanced opportunities and a more secure environment for her children.  REA-D Employment Agency reflects Diamond's dedication to empowering individuals to provide for their families.

Diamond Gorman, the Program Director, focuses on the educational and resource aspects necessary for a smooth and seamless transition to work, ensuring that her employees can provide for their families. She has created a range of impactful programs to support working families and foster community development:

  • REA-D Employment (flagging program): Offering round-the-clock on-the-job training within Virginia for flagging projects to prime contractors. Our aim is to enhance road safety and efficiency, effectively meeting the demands of the construction industry.
  • REA-D University: Offering educational resources and training to enhance professional skills.
  • REA-D Kidz Learning & Development Center: Providing a nurturing and enriching environment for employees' children.
  • The REA-D Loft: A supportive workspace that encourages collaboration and growth within the REA-D community.

A poignant image, captured in May 2021, showcases Diamond's children at ages 10, 8, and 5, seated on her initial company pickup truck alongside her inaugural set of equipment. This touching moment symbolizes the humble beginnings of her enterprise when everything was meticulously housed within her garage.

COMMUNITY-DRIVEN

Facing setbacks can be a significant hurdle, especially in our current post-COVID-19 reality. Many families are grappling with this challenge, working hard to find a way forward.

At REA-D Foudation, we take pride in providing steadfast support to individuals during difficult times and helping them overcome obstacles. Our training program, in collaboration with the Workforce Council of Hampton Roads, is designed to empower adults towards achieving self-sufficiency. In our mission to increase diversity and empower the community, we actively partner with various organizations, both on the for-profit and non-profit sides. Through these partnerships, we strive to better our overall mission, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for everyone. We firmly believe that a diverse and empowered community leads to success and growth.

REA-D Foundation empowers individuals through diverse programs, breaking barriers, and unwavering support. We work with a wide range of people, creating opportunities and an inclusive construction industry for a brighter future.
